Introduction

Vietnam Food Association, the predecessor of which is Vietnam Food Import & Export Association established under Decision No. 727/KDDN-QĐ dated November 13th, 1989 of the Minister for External Economic Relations which is presently called Ministry of Industry and Trade was renamed Vietnam Food Association under Decision No. 33/1999/QĐ-BTCCBCP dated August 26th, 1999 of Minister, Head of Governmental Personnel Managerial Committee.

Vietnam Food Association is a social organization of enterprises operating in the fields of food producing, processing and trading. The Association is organized and operates under the charter ratified by Minister of Ministry of Home Affairs and under state management of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Vietnam Food Association pays for expense and operational means itself.

Vietnam Food Association has held 8 General Meetings, the total quantity of rice exported over 122 million tons and its value has been over 41 billions USD.

Vietnam Food Association is always open to welcome enterprises from all economic sectors which meet conditions for admission as stipulated in its charter.

Members of Vietnam Food Association, applying modern technology, can produce different varieties of high-quality including fragrant rice and are well-experienced in implementing large scale contracts with diversified ways of trading and forwarding to meet their buyers’ requirement. The annual quantity of rice exported by the members of Vietnam Food Association makes up over 90% of the total volume of rice exported by the country. Vietnam rice is nowadays found in almost countries in the world and has gradually gained their buyers’ confidence.

Based on achieved operational results which positively contributed to accomplishing common task of the Vietnam food industry, Vietnam Food Association was rewarded by the Vietnam Government and State as follows:

  • In 1999, rewarded the second-class Labour Medal by the State because of “achieving excellent results in its work from 1994-1998, which contributed to the cause of building Socialist Republic and defending country” signed by President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Duc Luong.
  • In 2003, rewarded the Certificate of Merit by the Government because of “achieving results in its work from 2000-2002, which contributed to the cause of building Socialist Republic and defending country” signed by Prime Minister of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Phan Van Khai.
  • In 2010, rewarded the Emulation Flag by the Government because of “achieving excellent and comprehensive results in its work, taking the lead in the emulation movement of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2010” signed by Deputy Prime Minister of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Sinh Hung.
  • In 2011, rewarded the Emulation Flag by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development because of “achieving excellent results in its work and production – trading, taking the lead in the emulation movement in 2011” signed by Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat.
  • In 2011, rewarded the Emulation Flag by the Government because of “achieving excellent and comprehensive results in its work, taking the lead in the emulation movement of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2011” signed by Deputy Prime Minister of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
  • In 2011, rewarded the first-class Labour Medal by the State because of “achieving excellent results in its work from 2006-2010, which contributed to the cause of building Socialist Republic and defending country” signed by Vice President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Doan.
